Funeral
Those who, when an affiction visits them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him do we indeed return.'
What to do
First point of contact is brother Hur Ali Mamdani.
Transportation
Rahma Funeral Services (1-877-JANAZAH) provide transportation from home or hospital. Al-Baqee/Moore prefer to use their own transportation.
Ghusl (Ritual bath)
Volunteers of the community perform the services of giving ghusl and kafan to the body. (Brothers for male body and sisters for female body.)
Kafan
MOMIN charges $50 for the cost of kafan.
Local Laws
a. Ghusl can be performed at MOMIN Center within first 24 hours of death, otherwise we
need to use a funeral home. Rahma is an excellent option.
b. Embalming is required when crossing state lines and for transporting overseas.
Muslim Cemetaries
Currently there are two places where we bury our dead.
We mainly use Al-Baqee which is located in Arlington and the other option is the Denton cemetery in Denton.
Cost of Grave
At al-Baqi the cost is $3600-$4200 and at Denton the cost is $2400-2700.
Hold a Majlis and/or Give out Food
For scheduling a majlis, marhoom's family/friends need to contact a member of the Program Committee to avoid conflict with previously scheduled programs.
Related Ahkaam
When you touch a person who has died and his body has become cold, you have to do ghusl-e-mas-e-mayyit. But if you touch a dead body after the ritual bath has been given to him/her then the Ghsul of Touching the Dead Body is not wajib on you.
