Muharram 1428AH Poetry Contest

Participation Criteria:

Poems on the theme of Muharram.
Participants must be between the ages of 6-16.
Poem needs to be limited to a maximum of 200 words.
Please be sure that the submission has:

1. Child’s full name

2. Parents' names

3. Child’s date of birth ( example: 05/18/1975)

4. Email address & phone number for contact

Submissions must be made through email to smv081@yahoo.com. All other submissions will not be accepted. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations, fancy fonts or decorative borders. No handwritten entries, please.
Submission must meet deadline of Sunday, February 22nd, 2007.
Each poet may submit only one poem for entry in the poetry contest.
The poetry contest is open to the whole community within the provided age group.
Top three of the poems will be published in the Ar-Risalah Magazine. In addition to being published and receiving a copy of the magazine featuring his or her poem, the winner’s will have the opportunity to recite their poem at an upcoming majalis.

Judging Criteria:

Winners will be picked by the staff of The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board. There will be a first, second and third place.

Detail’s must be accurate, comprehensible and non-fiction (20pts)
Poems will be judged on impact of compassion, sentiment, passion and emotion. (20pts)
Poems flow, rhyme, rhythm and pattern (20pts)
Creativity, imagination, inspiration and cleverness (20pts)
Originality is encouraged. Plagiarism, breach of copyright, or copying will not be accepted. (10pts)
Participation, professionalism, appearance and presentation (10pts)

By submitting your poem you agree to the terms and conditions below:

1. The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board will have the right to edit submissions as necessary.

2. The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board will have the right to not display submissions deemed inappropriate.

3. By submitting material to The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board you agree that The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board can display, modify, transmit, distribute or delete your submission without needing prior or further consent from you.

4. Authors who submit their material to us retain their copyrights, but grant The Newsletter Committee and ISM Board irrevocable world wide, royalty-free rights to reproduce and distribute their submitted material, and forego any payment or compensation for the submitted material.

5. Authors who submit their material must certify that this material is their own, originally written by themselves or, otherwise, give due credit to the author or source of the material and ensure that it does not violate any copyrights.
